Below is a brief overview of the type of activities we offer, all designed to be engaging creative and suitable for seniors of all abilities. Each Class includes all necessary materials, and we bring everything needed from supplies to cleanup.Our standard rate is $200/ 1-11/2 hour class depending on the craft. That includes our travel time, purchasing materials, a 1- 1/2 hour class and clean up. There is a small additional charge per person for supplies depending on the art or craft class averaging from $1.00-$10.00. Should you prefer to provide your own supplies, we are happy to accommodate that as well and share our resources.
ARTS & CRAFTS
SILK SCARF TISSUE DYING CLASS-Participants create beautiful silk dyed scarves using tissue paper, vinegar and water.
SILK SCARF ROCK DYING CLASS-Participants are given a silk scarf, rocks, rubber bands and silk dye. They are then instructed on how to create these beautiful scarves.
STENCILED TOTE BAGS CLASS- Residents decorate pre-painted tote bags using stencils, brushes, and fabric pens.
COLLAGED SCALLOP SHELLS- Using imported napkins and 24kt gold paint, participants collage and decorative scallop shells.
JAPANESE SILK FAN PAINTING-Residents practice painting designs on paper before transferring their artwork onto silk fans.
COLLAGED LAMINATED PLACEMATS- Residents collage papers onto pre-designed cardstock and then olaminate them for placemats.
BEAD-ABLE PENS- A fun and creative class where participants make custom beaded pens.
PAPER MOSAICS- The residents cut paper into shapes and then apply them to a board to create a colorful mosaic image.
SCRAPBOOKING- 2-3 classes- One of the most popular classes where residents are given a high quality beautiful scrapbook and then collect photos and memorabilia and cut and paste into their scrapbook. We like several classes as the participants like to add new items each week.
WIRE TREES- A new class this year, more popular with the men that the woman as it takes a bit of strength. Residents bring a large rock and are instructed as to how to wrap the wire to create the tree.
STRETCHED SILK FLOWER MAKING-Residents are given pre-made wire petals and then stretch material over the sire to create beautiful flowers.
EMBOSSED GREETING CARDS- Residents use embossing machines and embossing powder to make a raised image on greeting cards.
CIRCLE BASKETS- Residents create a watercolor paper and then cut circles and assemble into a bowl or basket.
COLLAGED WINE BOTTLES- Residents are given a clean wine bottle and beautiful colored tissue that has been used in the scarf makiing class and then collage the papers onto the bottles.
CRAPE PAPER FLOWERS- An easy fun class where the residents are given strips of crape paper and instructed on how to make into colorful flowers. If given enough time we can do both the flowers and the collaged wine bottles on the same day for a slight additional cost.
WOOD BURNING COASTERS- This is a new class this year where residents create coasters using a torch paste pen and a heat gun to generate stenciled patterns onto the wooden coasters. Residents are advised to let us use the heat gun so there is no possibility of an accident.
DRIED FLOWER GREETING CARDS- Using real dried flowers, residents assemble the items on to cardstock and create beautiful greeting cars ready to send to friends and family.
GOLD LEAF COLLAGES- Residents are taught the techique of gold leaf and create beautiful small collage paintings readyy to frame.
SHELL FRAMES- Participants decorate frames with shells and optional paint to create personalized photo frames.
JAPANESE INK DRAWING- Residents create abstract of nature-inspired drawings using Japanese ink and brushes.
3-D COLLAGE & STITCHED- PAINTINGS- Participants create mixed-media collages using paint, needle, thread, and cut-outs, ready to be framed.
PAINTINGS
INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOR-A step-by step watercolor painting class where residents can follow a demonstration or create their own work.
INTRODUCTION TO ACRYLIC PAINTING- Similar to the watercolor class, but using acrylic paint on canvas.
MIXED MEDIA PAINTING- Residents use a variety of materials such as magazines, shells, beads, to create unique mixed media art.
ZEN TANGLE- Participants learn and practice creating intricate Zen Tangle designs, with difficulty increasing in subsequent sessions.
TISSUE PAPER WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS- Using tissue paper and water, participants create beautiful watercolor like paintings.
ALCOHOL PAINTINGS- Residents use alcohol inks on Yupo Paper to create flowing abstract painting and then print on the paper.
REVERSE WATERCOLORS-Designed for memory care patients. Participants outline pre-painted watercolors to enhance and personalize their artwork.
ROCK PAINTING- Residents use paint-markers to decorate white-painted rocks with fun colorful designs.
FLOW PAINTING- A messy but fun class where residents pour and tilt paint on canvases to create abstract designs.
JEWELERY
BEADED BRACELETS- Participants create custom beaded bracelets usig a variety of beads and elastic.
BEADED NECKLACES- Similar to the bracelet class, participants create necklaces using wire and applied lobster claw clasp.
PAINTED PAPER EARRINGS- Residents design mixed media art on paper that is then cut into shapes and turned into earrings.
BUBBLE PENDANTS- Residents are taught how to collage the glass bubble and apply the pendant and chain for a beautiful necklace.
PRINTMAKING
GELLI PRINTING- Residents are given a Gelli Plate and taught how to apply paint and collage to create amazing prints.
BLOCK PRINTING- Residents caarve rubber blocks and use them to create prints on paper or cardstock.
SEASONAL PROJECTS
PAPER CHRISTMAS TREES FROM MAGAZINES AND BOOKS- Participants fold pages from magazines or books to create 3-D paper Christmas trees.
SEASONAL CRAFTS, HALLOWEEN CHIRSTMAS, CHANUKAH, EASTER, VALENTINE'S DAY- Depending on the holiday, residents make decorations like painted menorahs, carved or collaged pumpkins or Died Easter Eggs.
